[Visual Graphics] Scout Vanish Texture and Sound Effect

$
0
0
Within Vanish state.entity it seems only alt avatar 4 and 6 use different textures for when Scout is vanished, thus leaving all other alts to share the same standard classic texture in result giving the Scout HD (Default) skin, alt avatar 1, 2, 3 and 5 incorrect visuals to their characters actual texture when vanished.

Quote:

<altavatar key="Hero_Scout.Alt4" modpriority="1"
passiveeffect="../alt4/ability_01/effects/state.effect"
/>

<altavatar key="Hero_Scout.Alt6" modpriority="1"
passiveeffect="../alt6/ability_01/effects/state.effect"
/>

Classic Skin:

HD (Default) Skin:

Alt avatar 1 and 2 use a cast sound effect but only plays while standing still and activating Vanish, when moving and casting it does not play at all unlike the alt avatar 6 sound effect.

[INT Ranged] Ethieriel

$
0
0
Ethieriel- ex legion sorceress was phased into another dimension from an experiment gone wrong (caused by Moira), although she is still faithful to the legion she has become chaotic in the time that she has been stuck away from reality. This explains the hero play style because she can be played as a support (aiding the team) or as a carry (using all abilities on herself selfishly)

Q) Dimension shift) short range- phases the Allied hero or self out of reality for 0.5,0.75,1,1.25 seconds making them avoid all damage but unable to cause damage
short cd

W)Power Siphon) Long range - enchants Allied hero or self for 5 seconds to borrow power from another dimension the next spell to cost 80/70/60/50 % of mana and mana regeneration to be boosted by 2.5/5/7.5/10, after the spell is cast mana regen is decreased for 5 seconds
10sec cd when spell has ended

E)Spectral Assistant) Cast on an allied hero or self to create a Ghost immune to physical damage that follows closely for 10seconds attacks enemy heroes that cast spells close to it causing a silence for 1,1.5,2,2.5 seconds and causing 50 damage with a 10,5,3.33,2.5 second cooldown (so would attack more at higher levels of the spell)
25sec cd

R)Creates a rip into a dimension after channeling for a short time Causes all near creatures to take damage from the rip. Arcane energy bursts from Ethieriel in 2 colors
yellow beams- 1 summons for any non hero in the area
red beams- 1 summons for any hero in the area
The beams however are split up randomly so that if their were 2 heroes, one of the heroes could take all the damage.
Staff of the master- Red beams ignite targets and yellow beams cause a stun

I hope you like my hero idea, I would love to see it in the game with some sweet backstory :)

Hello folks, and welcome to what might be the vaguest thread that has been here in a while.

I'm looking for something I don't even know I want. Until one of you posts it, that is.
Do you know of a video, a phenomenon, an article that is extraordinary? Bizarre? Completely and utterly surrealistic? Showcases something, someone or somewhere that is novel to most, and boggles the mind?

If so, this thread is the place to share it.

Meanwhile I'm sitting here, crossing my fingers, hoping that someone will know what I am looking for solely from this incredibly poor description.

Thanks!

If you could create a hero with only passive skills that actually exist, what would there be?

This was made considering the representative aspects of the original riftwalker.

Well done S2!

I have just left a match (MW) in which since picking phase a member from the other team started to trash talk and spam all chat like if there was no tomorrow, then I realized there was a name that sounded familiar on my team, "Trugo" from S2. I just thought, well, some people like to troll/spam/trash talk staff members and GM.

But as the game started to turn in our favor, hell was unleashed. I have never seen so much flaming and insults, and with no reasons at all, just pure rage. But Trugo kept calm and responded really well to this guy. I was getting mad just by reading everything, don't know how he standed all of that.

My question is: Do the GM/S2 staff/mods and people like that always gets talked like this? I really hope not. I see a lot of threads blaming S2 for the toxic environment, but with all I saw today I can tell you is the other way around, they are trying to do their best, and is up to us to end the flaming.

Anyway.. Well done S2! you got yourself a really mature and proffesional staff!

Hi Everybody!

The power rankings are back, and as usual, we're looking for your votes!
Follow THIS LINK to record your opinion and have it count in the overall power rankings.

Rank the current top 12 teams in HoN from #1 (best) to #12 (worst). So don't put SynC #12. Come on.

Hey, what are you doing down here? The link is up there! There's nothing for you here. Go back up there.

God, you're lazy. Fine, HERE'S THAT LINK AGAIN, because apparently you can't be bothered to move your mouse. The implication being that you need to trace the words on your screen with the mouse like a four-year-old.

And now I'm insulting you all. I'm sorry, I love you.

Please click THIS LINK and go vote. I have nothing else in this life but power rankings. Do not begrudge me the pittance I am allowed.

How to babysit VS a suicide cthulu?

I play mostly glacius, and even though hes strong in harassing suicides out, he cant do anything vs cthulu. Blocking the hard camp is not an option since half of games have a solstice or para in them, and the carry needs it stacked.

What to do? Just leave it and roam?

[Answered] Feeding and Remakes

$

Hello, the other day I came across an interesting situation in which it's possible for someone to get away with intentionally disrupting match after match without recourse.

I joined a TMM game, and immediately one of the opposing players started feeding mid. The other team started begging us to remake, and fortunately, it passed so that those poor souls didn't have to endure a feeding fest and 25 minute loss.

The next game, that same player (same name) was on the opposing team. He began to feed in the same manner as the previous game...except this time, I was the only person on my team that wanted to remake so it didn't pass. The game was ruined, we destroyed them and they CC'd at 25. I reported the idiot knowing he would get banned.

Here's the issue. That sort of player forces you to be a little cold-hearted. Remade matches can't have reports, meaning that theoretically, if people continuously had sympathy on the opposing team, that guy would have disrupted a whole lot of matches. I actually stopped playing TMM for the rest of the night after that win because I was concerned I would be on his team (because he won't be banned until the ticket is reviewed).

As a player on the opposite team from him, I feel empathy for my opponents and want to remake. If I do, there is no justice. If I don't, I'm wasting 25 minutes of my opponents' time, possibly more. If I'm on the other team, I want the match remade because I don't want to suffer through a crushing defeat. Either way, justice is only served by NOT remaking. That means that we have to suffer through a 25 minute match if someone like that is trolling us. I want a fair match. I don't want one ruined by a troll like that.

Regardless, this is something where we're being forced to be a little bit nasty by not remaking...or else this person could wreck a lot of games and waste people's time.

So we used to be able to see what servers did what matches take place in, and it has helped me a lot in determining whether or not x player could be a potential friend/mate to que games with, as they may frequent the servers that I play in. Why was it removed?

Thanks,

P.S. Off thread, but hoping if someone could locate the sticky/thread about 2013's Christmas events, sales etc. so I would have a good idea as to what to look forward to this year. Haven't had any luck looking for it in the News Archive, unfortunately.

Let's Play The Guessing Game!

Once again, I took this image off a facebook page, and that was all I did.

Anyway, my guesses areeeee:

1. Monkey King (I don't think it's URSA Crop.) - To be fair could be like Cyber Scout.. So Cyber monkey? Lol. Purely because it doesn't look feminine..
2. Gladiator (Definitely - URSA Crop)
3. Riftwalker / Voodoo Jester
4. Tarot
5. Behemoth
6. Sandwraith
7. Armadon / Rampage (I have seen two main colours on this avatar - red and blue; according to another picture I saw, like fully red or fully blue)

What do you guys think?!

Hero of the Week #37 Witch Slayer

“The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles.” -Jeff Cooper, Art of the Rifle

Witch Slayer
A man armed with faith and a deadly arsenal, the Witch Slayer is an opponent his enemies will often dread. Witch Slayer is an Intelligence-based hero who is played either as a ganker or support. His abilities are known for reeking havoc on those on the other side with powerful disable and burst. The Witch Slayer's abilities are quite simple in nature, but pack a punch when it comes to making a major impact on a match. "Let's dance!"

Graveyard (Q)
Graveyard is an active ability which knocks enemies up and stuns them upon landing in a targeted area up to 700 units away from Witch Slayer. The knock up lasts for 0.52 seconds, followed by a 0.5/1.0/1.5/2.0 second stun, for a total of 1.02/1.52/2.05/2.52 seconds of disable from this ability. Graveyard can also be targeted by clicking on an enemy hero/unit to "auto-aim" at them, but the target radius for this method has a lower range of 500 units. Graveyard's actual touch area goes beyond the target spot/hero by 150 units, meaning it can really hit up to a whopping 850 units away. With such a long range, Graveyard can not only reach some enemies really far away from Witch Slayer, but can be devastating for multiple enemies who were foolish to line up to all be stunned! Graveyard also deals 60/130/200/270 magic damage on enemies hit by it.

Minimization (W)
Minimization may look kind of silly when it shrinks opponents down to such a small size, but its power is nothing to laugh at. A single-target ability that applies a debuff on enemies that slows movement speed by 100%, disarms, perplexes, and silences them, but also removes the effects of evasion and deflection abilities/items! This ability also instantly kills enemy illusions. The draw to this ability is that its range is only 500, so it can't be cast from so far back lack Graveyard can, but its advantage is that the cast time is pretty much instant, a very useful edge in fights! The effects of Minimization last for 1.25/2/2.75/3.5 seconds.

Power Drain (E)
Power Drain is a single-target active which does what anyone can predict - It drains the mana from a target enemy hero/unit. Even though this may sound very simple, it is indeed a very useful ability. Can be targeted up to 700 units away, Witch Slayer begins a channel lasting up to four seconds, draining 25/50/75/100 mana per second until the target gets more than 900 units away, runs out of mana, or the channeling is stopped. This means Witch Slayer can steal up to 100/200/300/400 mana! Power Drain is very excruciating for opponents with already-existing mana issues, and even a short use of Power Drain can lower their ability to be useful lately. Power Drain is also solid versus heroes without mana issues too, as such loss of mana can really reduce their impact, disable them from using escape mechanisms, etc. Power Drain also instantly kills illusions.

Silver Bullet (R)
Witch Slayer's ultimate, Silver Bullet, is an active which delivers a devastating blast of damage at a single target. It may cost a grisly 200/425/650 mana, but it rips off a chunk of an enemy's health by dealing 500/650/800 magic damage to him/her. Known for finishing the job, Silver Bullet's damage is also amazing early in fights, where it's often enough to make even some pretty durable foes flee. Silver Bullet can be enhanced by Staff of the Master to become Heavenly Blast, which not only increases the damage done to 600/800/1050, but changes the damage type to superior magic damage, allowing this ability to go through magic immunity. Of course, this means the damage is still ssusceptible to getting reduced by magic armor, but it can really hurt an enemy who otherwise felt safe in their magic immunity state.

What exactly makes Valkyrie a decent carry?

$
0
0
So.. I dare to say that Valkyrie is THE most versatile hero in game. She can farm either of the sidelanes, she can babysit either of them. She can go mid, she can suicide very well. The only thing she can't do well is jungling. She can be a support or a roaming ganker. She can set up deadly initiations. She can carry.

Carry? Why?

None of her abilities are very carry-like. She has a good attack range and overall stat gains, but they're nothing extraordinary.
Yet I know from experience that she can be a very effective lategame baller (not TDL-level, but still). Why the feck is that?

Just curious. :3

HoN - Low FPS & Tweaks

$

Hey fellow Newerthians :)

My computer is able to handle High/Ultra in most games.

I've been struggling with low FPS in general and especially in teamfights - Back to that..

Searched the internet the last couple of days, because i've realised this has been 5-10+% wasted potential for me.
The new Silhouette skin makes my pc drop to as low as 7-10fps if she has her Tree Grapple up, which is close to unplayable.

In a normal game i'll sit around 25-30fps in laning phase, and drop to 5-15fps in teamfights which is do-able, but not easy to see and react/position yourself in teamfights due to lag(fps-drop) and even miss skills & kills.

Problem when searching is crappy forum posts everywhere with no explanation or real solutions to a problem, was hoping somebody could help me fix this problem once and for all.

Specs:

GPU: AMD - R9 280X 3GB
CPU: FX-9370 - 4.4GHz (4,7GHz clocked) 8 Cores
CPU Cooler: Corsair H110 Water Cooler
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 1833MHz 16GB
HDD: 250GB SSD
Internet: 40/40

I have updated all GFX drivers, done a rollback on ATI drivers to an old 13.4 version which should be the best for HoN.
Vsync Off + all other fps-lowering options ( Forced it on my GFX - CCC - ATI )
Changing Core usage, just to make sure it doesnt load every application on the same core - 100% load (HoN - No multicore support).
XP compability - Run as Admin

I've heard that HoN and ATI are not best friends, but I should be able to keep a steady 60+FPS at all times?
My total CPU usage is under 20-30% at all time with, skype, HoN, teamspeak, Youtube, stream etc! This occurs no matter how much/little i've running in the background.

Any gods around here who got a real solution to fix this problem?

Would mean the world to me.

Peace out
Hjort

- Black Friday
* This Black Friday, Merrick is in full force. He's prepared an hourly agenda for all of his loyal customers that includes massive discounts on normal avatars, limited edition avatars reentering the shop, and one extra exclusive avatar being brought back from the depths of his store and being put on sale. These sales are for his loyal customers only and will not be advertised outside of Newerth so make sure to log in and catch this goblin's sales.

- Starter Bundles
* In addition to the sales, Merrick is placing a new type of bundle in the store: Starter Bundles. Starter Bundles will be specific to a certain allegiance (Hellbourne or Legion) and a certain attribute (Strength, Agility, or Intelligence). These bundles will contain 1 avatar for each hero that falls in that category and will cost 1575 GC. That's 20 (or 21) avatars for a $30 pack which is roughly a 75% discount. Start your collection today!
* The Hellbourne intelligence bundle will not include a Riftwalker alt.

- Sol's Theatre
* The map makers have been hard at work refining their maps and making them as fun as possible. Each of them must submit their final maps by 11/19. From there, the HoN team will decide on which map will be chosen the winner and which maps will simply be runner ups. Look forward to the winner being announced on 11/26!

- Grimm's Crossing Tournaments
* With the return of Grimm's Crossing, we felt it necessary to honor the map with an array of tournaments. There will be two tournaments taking place over the following weekend; S2 vs Community on Grimm's Crossing starting on 11/20 and a competitive cash tournament on Grimm's Crossing starting on 11/22. Sign up for the S2 vs Community event via the forums and the cash tournament event via HoN Tour!

- New Behemoth Avatar: Garan the Rune Weaver
* Runeweaver Behemoth's initial concept was conjured by none other than MrKrane, the lucky winner of the Dream Avatar Contest.

As one of the grand winners, MrKrane was able to have his idea implemented into the game!
* This opportunity was brought to you by the Community Event Team (CET) ~ a group of volunteers who pledge to bring you HoN-related contests and events with huge prizes! Check out the current contests being hosted here.

*
The Rune Weavers are the lesser known cousins of the Behemoths; named for their ability to weave together the ancient powers of Newerth with their own powerful magic to create Runes capable of great healing or destruction. This shrouded race of ingenious shamans reveal that the Behemoth bloodline is much more diverse than previously thought, wielding not only great physical strength, but incredible magical prowess as well.

* The Rune Weavers have an innate connection with the earth. Whilst not as physically strong as their cousins, they more than make up for this with their control over their craft. Throughout time they became ever more powerful; by finding a way to create fissures and then close them again within moments, they summoned shock waves that would flatten mountains, mimicking the feats of strength shown by the Behemoths. They would also restore the land they had damaged in the process of defending it. The Rune Weavers are a peaceful race, aiding the good and defending the weak, like their cousins the Behemoths.

* When the Hellbourne began ravaging Newerth, the Rune Weavers knew they had to delve deeper into their magic. They needed something powerful enough to aid them and their less magically adept kin to defeat the daemon plague. So they poured metal, magic, blood and sweat into what would become their greatest creation: The Portal Key.

*
An item so perfectly woven, it could manipulate the very fabric of the universe, opening portals to teleport the user instantly into battle. The item was particularly effective when used by their mountainous cousins, who fell upon the enemy, crushing them into the ground and sending those nearby flying. They guard their creation fiercely, allowing only the strongest Legion heroes to use them, although regrettably they have lost some to the Hellbourne as their brothers fell in battle. The lost Portal Keys are slowly being taken back, but not without cost.

- New Tarot Avatar: Roulette
* Roulette is a lady by day and a card shark by night; a southern belle with a venomous bite. She relies on chance to dictate her next move, and never worries about the future, knowing that she can only play the hand she was dealt. She is wellÂ*versed in probability and lucky strikes, but for all her big wins at the tables, she can never seem to find the right man; love evades her like a 53rd card. Chance can be cruel, but it can also pay off in spades.

- New Riftwalker Avatar: Possessed Riftwalker
* Delving further into the forbidden arts that allowed her to access the Rift, the Riftwalker became obsessed with the consumption and manipulation of power. The transcendence of Newerth's mortal plane thrilled her: the ability to control existence and abandon the faux dichotomy of life and death inherent in the system. As she let the Rift overtake her, her physical appearance changed as well, disguising the innocence that composed her pale face with the viscous, writhing carapace of something much more horrid, cosmetically and existentially.

- New Gold Edition War Beast Avatar: Skullcrusher
* When War Beast brought his frenzied pets from the depths of the Underworld, he included a litter of savage hellhounds he’d been experimenting with. He chose the most vicious of these and used a blend of impromptu surgery and fel magic to turn them into two-Â*legged soldiers bred to swarm Legion trenches and fortifications, then transform into their true four-Â*legged form to ensure there were no survivors.

- New Monkey King Avatar: MechaKing
* MechaKing is a melee combat machine created by Kodia of the URSA Corps in an attempt to expand their ranks beyond the elite nucleus of the crew, but she has experienced mixed results with this automated soldier due to the lack of heart and soul within the machine. MechaKing is prone to unpredictable behavior and a ruthlessness the URSA Corps does not support, but they cannot argue with the dead enemies he leaves behind.

- New URSA Corps Gladiator Avatar: Arctos
* The starving girl was one of the countless orphans of Blackwal, tossed into the blood-soaked fighting pits to be torn apart by the undead savages resurrected by Lord Salforis for his perverse entertainment. To the Baron's astonishment, the girl fought like a cornered bear, earning her the nickname Arctos, an ancient term in the realm for the terrifying beasts who stalked the dark mountain passes and left behind only screams. The girl earned her life that day and as she survived each day of brutal combat she earned water, food, and eventually weapons to fight the ever-increasing number and strength of Salforis' rotting soldiers.

*
When the URSA Corps raided the outpost, they freed the tormented prisoners and provided safe passage out of the Great Waste, but when everyone else fled toward the supposed protection of the Legion, Arctos refused to budge. She demanded to join the URSA Corps, and one look at what she could do with the weapons and armor provided by Kodia convinced the women she would be a valuable asset. Now she uses her Blackwal-honed combat skills against the living and dead alike, relishing the thought of facing Lord Salforis one last time. If Arctos kills Lord Salforis without taunting him, she will say something unique to him. The same is true if Lord Salforis kills Arctos without taunting her

- Sand Wraith (POG) (Default)
* The POGs avatars are here! These high definition skins will be released one-per-patch and will be available via the store, Plinko, or both, depending upon the region.
